Movies on Film’s Top 11 Films of 2011

Now that 2011 is officially in the books, T.J. and I thought that we would look back at the films that we thought were the best of 2011. Here’s our top 11 of 2011.

11.) Hobo with a Shotgun (review)

It’s cheesy; it’s corny; it’s gory; it’s retarded; it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Score: 4 ice skates to the chest out of 5.

10.) Trollhunter

“Dazzling special effects for such a low budget film.”

Score: Four trolls out of 5.

9.) The Muppets (review)

Segel can write a funny, nostalgic, family-friendly film that’s appealing to all audiences.”

Score: 4 80’s robots out of 5.

8.) X-Men: First Class (review)

“There are a million reasons for why this movie should be bad, but it just works.”

Score: 4 token black mutants out of 5.

7.) Rise of the Planet of the Apes (review)

The emotion portrayed by Serkis’ performance in this flick is better than some of the most dialogue-laced acting I’ve seen in a long while.”

Score: 4 creepy chimps watching you sleep out of 5.

6.) Bridesmaids (review)

“Watching a grown woman call a 13-year old girl a “cunt” will never get old”

Score: 4 bridal shower gift puppies out of 5.

5.) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (review)

“A film that is well written, beautifully shot, paced just right, and accompanied by an unbelievable score.”

Score: 4 painful dildo kicks to the ass out of 5.

4.) Super 8 (review)

It’s apparent early on that this film sincerely wants to be the Spielberg film that never was… and it absolutely is.”

Score: Companion Cubes space cubes out of 5

3.) Midnight in Paris

“A movie that is so well written that you’ll forget that you have absolutely zero interest in the film’s subject matter.”

Score: 4 fully mounted rhinoceros out of 5.

2.) The Guard (review)

Gleeson is the big, bright shining star of this flick, making an otherwise despicable character into someone the audience roots for and cares about.”

Score: 5 Don fucking Cheadle’s out of 5.

1.) Drive (review)

Everything about this movie, the look of it, the acting, the pacing, the score….it’s perfect. Just perfect.”

Score: 5 creative uses of a curtain rod out of 5.
